It would be like considering Hawaii part of the North American Continent just because its part of the USA.
The “British Isles” is a redundant term that represents Britain and its own outlying islands. Geographically, Britain is considered a landmass, not an island. Ireland is considered an island and is therefore distinct from Britain and should be considered as such.
The correct term is “Britain and Ireland”.
